Setting a schedule for your backup is a crucial component, as the schedule tells Backup Radar when to expect the report or notification for a specific backup job. This allows you to clearly identify when a backup is missing (also known as a No Result status).
By default, your activated backups will be set on a daily schedule. Follow the steps below to create your own custom schedules.
Who can use this feature? • Administrator users. • Standard users (who have been granted access). |
Creating a New Schedule
Follow the steps below to create a new schedule in Backup Radar.
- In your Backup Radar account, click Manage > Schedules.
- Click the Create Schedule button.
- Configure the following fields (your schedule details should match the days on which your backup runs):
a. Name (required).
b. Description (required).
c. Days of Week (if applicable).
d. Months (if applicable).
e. Days of Month (if applicable).
f. Every 'x' days (if applicable).
Note: If you would like Backup Radar to assume all possible options in a field are selected, you can do this by either leaving the field blank (which can be done for all fields except the Months field) or clicking the check box to the right of the field.
Creating a Unique Schedule
In most cases, backups run on a daily or weekly basis and you can simply set your backup's schedule to match in Backup Radar. However, some backups are scheduled more uniquely to occur on a specific cadence. For example, some backups may run on the third Friday of the month.
See below for some examples of unique schedules. You can use variations of these techniques to set up your own unique schedule cadences.
First Monday of Every Month
First Monday of Every Month
a. Days of Week: Choose Monday (or any other desired day of the week).
b. Months: To select all months, either leave this field blank or check the box to the right of the Months field.
c. Days of Month: Select Days 1-7.
This tells Backup Radar you only expect this backup to run on Mondays that fall within the first 7 days of the month.
Third Friday of Every Month
Third Friday of Every Month
a. Days of Week: Choose Friday.
b. Months: To select all months, either leave this field blank or check the box to the right of the Months field.
c. Days of Month: Select Days 15-21.
Because the third Friday of a month can only fall within the 15th and 21st of a month, these settings will capture all occurrences of the third Friday of the month. Adjust this technique accordingly for other days of the week.

a. Days of Week: Choose Saturday (or any other desired day of the week).
b. Months: Choose April, June, September, and November.

Note: Backup Radar will expect this backup to run every X days, starting on the First Date you choose when assigning this schedule to a backup.
What’s next? Now that you've created your custom schedule, see Assigning a Schedule to your Backup for detailed steps on how to assign it to your backup. |
