Working with global ticket defaults

While you're setting up ticket profiles, you'll have the option to group your tickets by the following four global ticket defaults:

  • Backup
  • Company
  • Job name
  • Device name

Backup Radar will use these defaults for any tickets grouped by those categories, except when you have opted to override the default by setting a custom subject line or ticket body for a specific ticket profile.

Follow the steps below to customize your global ticket defaults for your Templates / Standalone backups (available for everyone) and for your Backup Plans backups and alerts (available for Backup Plans beta users).

Who can use this feature?
• Administrator users.
• Standard users (who have been granted access).

  1. In Backup Radar, navigate to Tickets > Global Ticket Defaults.

Tickets > Global Ticket Defaults.png

  1. Under Global Ticket Defaults, you can view the formatting and examples for each global ticket default. To edit any of the global ticket defaults, click the Pencil.png Edit icon.

  2. Configure your Global Ticket Default using the following options and click Save when finished. Note that the exact settings you see will depend on the global ticket default you've chosen to edit.

    a. Global Subject/Body Template: In this field, you can configure your Global Subject/Body Template as needed by adding text and pasting or manually entering your desired variables from the Variables section.
    b. Sample Preview: In this field, you can see a preview of exactly how your default content will appear.
    c. Revert to default: Click this option anytime to return to the default content for this global ticket default type.
    d. Copy: Click the Copy.png icon to copy any variable text you'd like to paste into your subject or body content.
    e. More info: Click this link anytime to access additional formatting/display options for certain variables.
    f. Note that variables will appear in greyed-out text when they are not applicable for the selected global ticket default type. For example, the {device} variable appears greyed-out here because it doesn't apply for Job Name global ticket default.

And you're done! Backup Radar will use these defaults for any tickets grouped by those categories, except when you have opted to override the default by setting a custom subject line or ticket body for a specific ticket profile.
