If Backup Radar displays only part of a Synology backup task name as the Job Name, follow the steps below. A spaced dash (-) in the Synology task name can cause the task name to be split during parsing.

Who can use this feature?

  • Backup Radar users who manage Synology backup notifications.

What you’ll need

  • Access to the affected Synology task in Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM).

  • Access to the affected backup result in Backup Radar.

Note: This article captures third-party steps and/or an interface that may have since been updated.

Remove the spaced dash from the Synology task name

  1. In Synology DSM, open the application that manages the affected backup task.

  2. Locate the affected task and edit its name.

  3. Remove the spaced dash (-) from the task name.

    For example, change:

    Example_Task - NAS-01

    to:

    Example_Task NAS-01

  4. Save the task-name change.

  5. Run the backup task or send a new notification for the task.

  6. In Backup Radar, open the new backup result and verify that the full task name appears as the Job Name.

If the Job Name is still truncated, submit a support ticket and attach the raw .eml notification. Support can use the notification to confirm which field Backup Radar is parsing.
