Integrating with Redstor emails

Send Redstor backup results to Backup Radar by configuring a recurring Combined Overview report. The report is sent as an HTML email and parsed into Backup Radar backup results.

Email ingestion is an alternative to the Redstor API integration. Choose the method that best fits your monitoring requirements.

Who can use this feature?

  • Redstor users who can manage customer reports.

  • Backup Radar users who can provide the designated Backup Radar email-ingestion mailbox.

What you'll need

  • Access to Redstor.

  • Access to Customers > Settings > Reports in Redstor.

  • A top-level customer in Redstor, if you want one report to include the organization and its downstream customers.

  • The Backup Radar email-ingestion mailbox for the integration.

Note: This article captures third-party steps and/or an interface that may have since been updated.

Configure the Redstor email report

  1. Sign in to Redstor.

  2. Navigate to Customers > Settings > Reports.

  3. In Email reports, select Combined overview.

  4. Under Customer Reports, select the customer that should be the report's scope.

    • Select the top-level customer to include data for the organization and its downstream customers.

    • If your Redstor account does not have a top-level customer, configure the report separately for each company.

  5. Enable the recurring report schedule.

  6. Select Daily, then select Every Day.

  7. Under Recipients, add the designated Backup Radar email-ingestion mailbox.

Anyone who receives the report can view its contents. Confirm that the recipient list contains only the intended recipients.

  8. Select Save schedule.

How Backup Radar ingests the report

When Backup Radar receives the HTML email, it maps the report fields as follows:

  • Device name: The Company column.

  • Job name: The Product and Service columns.

  • Backup status: The worst status reported for the row.

The status is evaluated in this order:

  • If the row contains one or more failures, Backup Radar ingests the result as a failure.

  • If the row contains warnings and successes, but no failures, Backup Radar ingests the result as a warning.

  • If the row contains only successes, Backup Radar ingests the result as a success.

  • If the only status is Missed Backup, Backup Radar does not ingest a result for that backup.

Choose the API integration instead

If email delivery is not the best fit for your use case, use the Integrating with Redstor API article to connect Redstor directly to Backup Radar.

What's next?

After the first scheduled report is sent, verify that the expected Redstor results appear in Backup Radar. If results do not appear, confirm the report scope, schedule, recipient mailbox, and the report's HTML format before contacting Support.
