Backup Plans and Templates can both be used to activate your backups. If you'd like a backup to be managed by a template instead of a Backup Plan, follow the steps below.

Who can use this feature?
• Administrator users.
• Standard users (who have been granted access).

How Backup Plans and Templates work together

Backup Plans take priority over templates. If a backup matches both a Backup Plan and a template, the Backup Plan manages it. To have the template manage it instead, the Backup Plan needs to be disabled or deleted.

Move backups to a template

  1. In your Backup Radar account, go to Manage > Templates and check that a template applies to the backups you're moving.
  2. Go to Manage > Backup Plans.
  3. Find the Backup Plan and either:
    • Turn off its Active switch to disable it, or
    • Select the bin icon to delete it.

Once the Backup Plan is disabled or deleted, any backups that match a template are picked up by that template.

If no template applies

If no template applies to a backup, disabling or deleting the Backup Plan moves it to Monitor > Activate Backups, where you can activate it manually. See Activating your backups for step-by-step instructions.
