Once you've set up your integrations, your next step is to make sure your clients are assigned to their respective backups.
|
Before you begin: If you're not able to add a Backup Client ID to your backup after following the above article's instructions, try following the steps in this article to set up a company rule instead. Note: Client mapping takes precedence over a company rule as long as a client ID is present, so setting up a company rule is only necessary when client mapping can't be achieved. |
|
Who can use this feature? • Administrator users. • Standard users (who have been granted access). |
1. Navigate to Manage > Companies > Company List to view a list of all the companies in Backup Radar that have been imported by your PSA or that you've manually added (also known as local companies).
2. Find the backup you need to add a Backup Client ID to and click Rules to configure a new company rule.
3. Click Add Rule and select any of the following options to begin determining which results will be mapped to this client:
a. Backup Type: Filter by backup or alert type. For more details, see Backup Type.
b. Email Address: Filter based on the outgoing email address for the backup.
c. Job Name: Filter by job name. For more details, see Job Name.
d. Device Name: Filter by device name. For more details, see Device Name.
e. Backup Method: Filter by the backup product the results originate from.
4. Configure the following fields as desired:
a. Add Rule: Use this option to add additional criteria for what results will be mapped to this client.
b. Add Group: Use this option to organize this company rule into groups. This is useful if you would like to apply a different boolean (the AND and OR conditions) to certain rules.
c. Copy: Use this button next to any given rule to duplicate it.
d. Delete: Use this button next to any given rule to delete it.
e. Reorder handle: Click and drag the reorder handle to rearrange company rules to different groups. This has no effect the order in which rules are applied.
f. AND/OR: Choose AND if you require every listed rule to be true for a backup result to be mapped to this client. Choose OR if you only require at least one rule to be true for a backup result to be mapped to this client.
g. Test: Once you have finished building out your criteria, we recommend using the Test button to test your logic before saving it. Doing this will test your logic and display all activated backups and backups awaiting activation that match your rule criteria and would be mapped to this client.
5. When you're ready to save your changes, click Save. Your company rule will be applied against all future new backups awaiting activation on the Activate Backups page.
6. Back in Manage > Companies > Company List, click Apply Changes to apply your company rule against all applicable backups, including currently-activated backups.
7. In the next window, review the following details for the backups being affected by your pending changes. If you'd like to display all companies, including the ones not affected by your pending changes, you may want to toggle on the Hide already applied option.
a. [ ] to be moved: This indicates the number of backups being assigned to a new company name.
b. [ ] conflicts: This indicates the number of conflicts between company rules.
| Note: If you don't resolve a conflict before applying your changes, the associated company will be skipped when company rules are applied. |
c. [ ] backups: This indicates the number of backups being affected by these changes.
8. To review the details for the pending changes, click the Arrow button. Conflicts will be highlighted in red.
9. When you're ready to finalize your changes, click Apply.
10. Back in Manage > Companies > Company List, check the Status column to confirm that your company rules have made sure that all your clients are assigned to their respective backups. If your company displays a Pending status, check back in a few minutes.
