Follow the steps below to create an integration between HYCU and Backup Radar through email parsing. Backup Radar receives HYCU backup reports in your Backup Radar mailbox and parses them into backup results.

Note: This article captures third-party steps and/or an interface that may have since been updated.

Who can use this feature?

  • Administrator users.

  • Standard users who have been granted access.

What you'll need

  • Your Backup Radar email address. You can find it in Backup Radar under Integration > Mailboxes. For more information, see Viewing your email mailbox in app.

  • Access to your HYCU portal and permission to configure reports and schedules.

  • The HYCU User Guide, if you need more detailed instructions from HYCU. The steps below reference version 5.3.0; menus, report names, and available options may vary in other HYCU versions.

Configure the HYCU VM backup status report

  1. In Backup Radar, navigate to Integration > Mailboxes and copy the email address you want to use for HYCU reports.

  2. In HYCU, click Reports in the navigation pane.

  3. From the list of predefined reports, select VM backup status. This report lists backups from the last 24 hours and includes information such as backup status, duration, and size. The predefined report cannot be edited or deleted.

  4. Make sure that an SMTP server is configured in HYCU. HYCU requires SMTP configuration before it can send scheduled reports by email.

  5. With VM backup status selected, click Scheduler. The Report Scheduler dialog box opens.

  6. Configure the report schedule:

    • In Schedule date, specify the date and time when report generation should begin. Choose a time after the expected backup jobs have completed.

    • From Interval, select Daily.

    • Turn on Send report to email.

    • From Report format, select CSV.

    • In Email address, enter the Backup Radar mailbox address from step 1. If you enter more than one address, press the spacebar after each address.

    • In Email text, enter any additional information that should appear in the report email, or leave it unchanged if no additional information is needed.

  7. Click Save. HYCU marks automatically generated reports in the Scheduled column of the Reports panel.

  8. We recommend using plus addressing to create a variation of your Backup Radar email address for each client. For example, if your mailbox is AwesomeMSP@us.backupradar.com, you can use AwesomeMSP+ClientName@us.backupradar.com as the recipient. If your HYCU report already contains the client information needed to identify the backup, plus addressing may not be necessary.

  9. Make sure the subject line of each HYCU report starts with:

    • HYCU Backup Notification

  10. Wait for the scheduled report to arrive in the Backup Radar mailbox.

  11. After the scheduled report arrives, in Backup Radar, navigate to Manage > Activate Backups and confirm that new backups appear from the HYCU vendor.

Troubleshoot missing HYCU backups

If the test report does not produce a backup in Backup Radar, check the following:

  • Confirm that the scheduled report was sent to the correct Backup Radar mailbox.

  • Confirm that the report uses the predefined VM backup status report, which covers the previous 24 hours.

  • Confirm that the subject starts with HYCU Backup Notification.

  • Confirm that the email contains supported backup results and uses HYCU's standard report structure.

  • Confirm that the report schedule is assigned to the backups you want to monitor.

What's next?

Your HYCU report should continue arriving in your Backup Radar mailbox according to the schedule configured in HYCU.

Once you've set up your integrations, your next step is mapping your clients to their backups.
