Backup results received but not showing in Daily Activity

If your backup results are being received by Backup Radar (visible in your mailbox or confirmed through API) but are not appearing in Daily Activity or Result History, this is typically caused by a mismatch between your Backup Plan's configured schedule and the days your backup results actually arrive.

Backup Radar evaluates results against the Backup Plan's configured schedule. If a result arrives on a day the Backup Plan is not scheduled to run, the result is not registered for that date. The backup shows a "Not Scheduled" status for that day, and the result does not appear in Result History.

Additionally, Backup Radar registers backup results based on the backup's start time, not its completion time. For example, if a backup starts at 11:00 PM on Tuesday but finishes at 2:00 AM on Wednesday, Backup Radar registers that result for Tuesday. If your Backup Plan is only scheduled for Wednesday (based on when you expect the backup to complete), the result will not be registered because Tuesday is not a scheduled day.

Note: Some backup vendors do not provide a start time. In those cases, Backup Radar registers the result using one of the following, depending on what data is available:

  • The completion time of the backup job.

  • The time the result was received (for example, the email receipt time).

  • Midnight in your configured time zone.

The SLA window configured on your Backup Plan can also affect whether results appear as expected. If your SLA window is set to 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM but your backups run at 7:00 PM, those results fall outside the SLA window. While the results are still ingested and visible in the expanded result view, they will not count toward SLA compliance for that window, and the backup may show as Out of Compliance – No Results within the configured SLA timeframe.

Who can use this feature?

  • Administrator users.

  • Standard users (who have been granted access).

Verify your Backup Plan schedule

  1. In Backup Radar, navigate to the Daily Activity page.

  2. Locate the affected backup and check the SLA Status column. If it shows Not Scheduled, the Backup Plan does not expect results on the selected date.

  3. Click the Backup Plan name in the Backup Plan column to open the plan configuration.

  4. Navigate to the Schedule step and review the configured schedule interval and expected run days.

  5. Compare the scheduled days against the days your backup application actually starts running (not when the backup completes). Backup Radar registers results based on backup start time.

Confirm the backup is receiving results

  • For email backups, navigate to Integrations > Mailboxes, open your mailbox, and search for the device or job name. Confirm that emails are arriving on the days you expect.

  • For API backups, locate the backup on the Daily Activity page and click the expand/collapse button. Check whether raw results appear under the Received Date & Time column.

If results are arriving but the backup still shows Not Scheduled or No Result, the schedule configuration is the most likely cause.

Verify your SLA window

If your backup is scheduled for the correct day but still shows Out of Compliance or No Results within the SLA window:

  1. Open your Backup Plan and navigate to the Service Level Agreement step.

  2. Check the configured SLA window (for example, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).

  3. Compare this against the time your backup actually starts running.

  4. If your backup runs outside the SLA window, results will not count toward compliance for that window.

To resolve this, either widen the SLA window to cover the time your backups run (for most cases, the default 12:00 AM – 12:00 AM window works best), or adjust when your backup application runs so it falls within the configured SLA window.

Resolve the schedule mismatch

You have two options to resolve this:

Option A: Adjust the Backup Plan schedule to match actual backup start days

  1. Open your Backup Plan and navigate to the Schedule step.

  2. Update the schedule interval so the expected run days align with the days your backups actually start running. For backups that start late in the evening and finish the next morning, schedule the plan for the day the backup starts, not the day it completes.

  3. Click Save.

After saving, Backup Radar reprocesses the affected backups. Results arriving on newly scheduled days will be registered going forward.

Option B: Adjust your backup application's reporting schedule

If you prefer to keep the Backup Plan schedule as-is, configure your backup application to send reports on the days Backup Radar expects them.

Use the Scheduled Only filter to verify

After making changes, you can verify whether your backups are correctly registering by toggling the Scheduled Only filter on the Daily Activity page:

  • With Scheduled Only enabled (default), you only see backups scheduled for the selected date.

  • With Scheduled Only disabled, you see all backups including those in a Not Scheduled state.

If your backup no longer appears when Scheduled Only is disabled for the affected date, and results are registering on the correct days, the issue is resolved.

If the issue persists

If your Backup Plan schedule matches the days results are arriving and the backup is still not registering results, submit a support ticket and include the following:

  • The Backup Plan name.

  • The affected device name and job name.

  • The date(s) results were expected but did not register.

  • A screenshot of your mailbox or expanded result view showing the result was received.
